TVmap Excel offers some powerful functions to retrieve TVmap information from within Microsoft Excel. This allows for the creation of customised workbooks.
Using the TVmap tab to enter a function into a cell
Select the TVmap tab from the Excel ribbon, then select TVmap Functions to view and select basic TVmap functions. Select a TVmap function to be prompted for the required parameters.
Using formulas to enter a function into a cell
Select the Formulas tab from the Excel ribbon, then select the Insert Function button to open the Insert Function pop-out window, alternatively select the Function button on the toolbar.
Select the category drop-down to choose TVmap Functions
or TVmap Advanced Functions

Saving and opening a custom workbook
A custom workbook must be saved as a Macro-Enabled Workbook (.xlsm) to retain the use of TVmap Functions when it is next opened through TVmap.
Select Open Existing from TVmap in Excel to open a previously saved workbook.
Date and Time Parameters
These functions require certain parameters in order to function correctly.
FromDate(s)
The FromDate parameter is the ratings start date used. More than one date can be added to create date blocks and exclude specified dates (hiatus periods). Valid TVmap dates must be used.
Select the Date Format button from the TVmap tab to format one or more selected cells with the TVmap date format.
Valid formats include [dd/mm/yyyy] or [dd-mm-yyyy]
Invalid formats include dd.mm.yy, or dd\mm\yy
ToDate(s)
The ToDate parameter is the ratings end date used. More than one date can be added to create date blocks and exclude specified dates (hiatus periods). Valid TVmap dates must be used.
Select the Date Format button from the TVmap tab to format one or more selected cells with the TVmap date format.
Valid formats include [dd/mm/yyyy] or [dd-mm-yyyy]
Invalid formats include dd.mm.yy, or dd\mm\yy
FromTime(s)
The FromTime parameter is the ratings start time used. More than one time can be added to create time blocks and exclude specified times (hiatus periods). If the time parameters are optional and left blank the first minute of the day will be used. Any valid Excel time format can be used.
Select the StartTime button from the TVmap tab to add the TVmap time selector to one or more cells.
Valid formats include [hh:mm] or [hh:mm:ss]
ToTime(s)
The ToTime parameter is the ratings end time used. More than one time can be added to create time blocks and exclude specified times (hiatus periods). If the time parameters are optional and are left blank the first minute of the day will be used. Any valid Excel time format can be used.
Select the EndTime button from the TVmap tab to add the TVmap time selector to one or more cells.
DayMask(s)
The DayMask parameter is the days of the week in the ratings period to use. Valid entries are "Sun,Mon,Tue,Wed,Thu,Fri,Sat", entries are not case sensitive, but must be separated by commas and contain no spaces, with no leading or trailing comma.
If the DayMask parameter is empty all days of the week will be used.
Select the Days of Week button from the TVmap tab to add the TVmap Days of Week selector to one or more cells.
Invalid formats include "SMTWTFS", or "Su Mo Tu", or "Sun, Mon, Tue".
Example of Hiatus Periods
Hiatus periods are breaks normal scheduled viewing (typical examples of when hiatus periods are used are Commonwealth Games, Olympic games, Rugby World Cup etc). DayMasks can be used to hiatus specified days of the week.
Below are a examples using dates and DayMasks to create hiatus periods.
