________________________________________________________________________________
You get this pop up message because the spots you've chosen to buy already meet the requirements you've set in the schedule optimiser.
You should save your buy before taking action. You can either change the schedule requirements or delete your spots from your spot list and run the Schedule Optimiser again.
How do the Current Results indicators work?
When Current Results is turned on, the Schedule Optimiser requirements will show arrows to indicate values that are over or under target.
Results will show in green if these are within 3% of Goal or below the limits set.
How do I set Schedule Optimiser objectives to have a maximum number of Spots per Programme/Screening?
By default if no objective is entered the Schedule Optimiser will default to 1 spot per screening or programme to avoid repetition in the schedule.
To set maximum number of spots per programme or screening to more than 1 it can be defined as an overall objective.
Note: This setting will override any Schedule Split settings.
How do I set up a day-part budget across multiple channels?
Example:
Budget $27,000
Desired TARPs 50
Daypart splits 08:00-12:00, 12:00-18:00, 18:00-22:30
Channels TVNZ 1*, TVNZ 2*, Three*, Prime*
Scheduled daypart split against budget as below:

Step 1:
Set up the categories using the Modify Categories option under Buy Tasks:
Step2:
Select the time periods for the first Category 08:00-12:00
To make this easier use the filter option so only spots for that time period are displayed
Select all spots and from the Category drop down select the first time period
Category column will display the selected category
Follow the same steps to set categories for time periods 12:00-18:00 and 18:00-22:30
Step3:
Set up the rule in Schedule Optimiser - you can then use the optimiser to create a split by channel and by category so you can enter a budget split by timezone.
Add a Peak/Off-Peak Share Split
Change from Peak/Off-Peak to Channel
Change the Objectives to a Goal against Nett Cost
Change the Column Splits to Category, selecting only the categories for the time periods
Split should now look similar to below
Enter the Nett Cost goal for each category against channels
You can rename the split and save as a schedule split template to be used again in the future
Step4:
Run Schedule Optimiser. It will produce 30 different schedules.
Each schedule will display a result for the Channel Daypart Split.
How do I include or exclude multiple programmes from my Schedule Optimiser run?
Programmes can be included or excluded by adding the Programme Name requirement from Add Spot Requirements.
Once requirement is added simply select or deselect programmes from the drop down list
You can use the search field to easily find programmes in the list.
Spot Requirements – Programme Name filtered to programmes with “1 News” in the title.
Choose whether to include or exclude programmes by using the drop down
Multiple programme exclusion and inclusion is also supported via the right click menu in the programme list/schedule to make it simple to Exclude/Include programmes.
What is the difference between Reach Curves cummulative TARPs and TVmap predicted TARPs?
Using the below image as an example, the TARPs column is based on TVmap estimates for the programme average. The R&F is based on actual's for the time period selected in the R&F source weeks.
TARPs/1+ will equal frequency when you are looking at the Cumulative TARPs in the R+F.
If you do a Reach and Frequency and select schedule look at the Cumulative TARPs, these will be different to the estimated TARPs the optimiser is using which is sourced from the TVmap spot estimates.
Why does Schedule Optimiser return the same results for every schedule?
This occurs when the Schedule Optimiser has limited options and has to book the same spots (maybe different episodes, but in the same programme).
We also see this when the Optimiser is unable reach the goals. In this case, all schedules are the same and do not meet goals.
This is shown above where the optimiser has met 0 out of the 10 goals.
To resolve this issue, adjust your goals to make them less restrictive.
Re-run the optimiser to see if it can produce schedules meeting the new requirements and repeat the process until goals are being met.
How to find the best channel split to achieve a reach goal
Schedule Optimiser can be used to find the best channel split to achieve a reach goal.
In this example we will be setting a 3+ reach target of 10 and a channel TARP share of 0-100%.
Go to the Schedule Requirements Tab.
Select Reach 3+ Goal under Schedule Objectives, Duration under Schedule Requirements and Peak/Off-Peak Share Split under Schedule Splits.
Click Update Document once these have been selected.
Enter the reach goal, in this example we will use a Reach +3 Goal of 10
In the Peak/Off Peak Share Split change Peak/Off-Peak via the drop down to Channel.
Enter in the channel share as 0-100%. By doing this TVmap will be allowed to adjust the channel % anywhere from 0-100% on all the channels and because it has a target.
This means TVmap will show the results compared to the target and in this way channel percentage in use can be seen.
Click on Start to run.
The results will display the channel share to get to the Reach 3+ Goal.
