How you are planning to use the results of your Competitive Expenditure report will determine how it needs to be saved.

How do I save a Compets file to be re-opened again in TVmap?

There are two options for saving:

oSave Only Me

oSave Public

CompetsSaveIcon

Make sure the Save as Type is set to Excel Macro-Enabled Workbook (.xlsm)

Compets.Save.As.File.Type

Templates saved using Save Only Me will be under My Templates and only seen by the person who saved it. Templates saved using Save Public will be under Public Templates and can be seen by everyone using TVmap at your organization.

Can also open saved compets reports using Open Existing and browsing to the saved location.

How do I save a Compets file for sending to a client who doesn't use TVmap?

Often you will need to send reports to clients who do not have TVmap. When a client opens a TVmap workbook outside of TVmap, they will get a warning message advising that the TVmap links are broken.

To avoid this error, you can use the Publish function to export to a new workbook. This creates a copy of the template, removing the links to TVmap and this can be sent and opened by anyone.

On the Competitive Expenditure home page, click Publish

CompetsPublshAndExport

You will be presented with some options. Un-tick Include the settings sheet if you don’t want this included on the exported report.

CompetsPublishDialogueBox

Select Export to Excel. This will create a new Excel workbook which can be saved and sent to your client.

Compets.Export.Static.Workbook

Alternatively you can use the TVmap tab to export to Excel.
