•Channel
Channel is a television station associated to a Broadcaster - for more see Broadcasters and Channels.
•Channel Share
This is the share one channel has of all viewing for a particular time period. The share (expressed as a percentage) is calculated by dividing the channel’s average audience by the average audience of all channels (Total Viewing)
•Consolidated
Consolidated ratings represent all viewing including time-shifted viewing over the last seven days since broadcast.
•CPT
Cost Per TARP (also known as Cost Efficiency). This is the average cost to reach a single rating point (TARP).
To calculate the CPT of a spot: Divide the spot cost by the spot rating expressed in TARPs.
To calculate the CPT of several spots: Divide the spot cost by the total ratings achieved (expressed in TARPs) across all spots.
•Demographic
Target audience or description of a particular group of people. Demographic groups are based on gender, age, geographical region, social economic, income filters and family size to name a few.
•Initial
Cost of the spot at the time inventory is released for buying.
•Latest
Current rate in affect or for aired spots the rate at the time the spot went to air.
•Overnight
Overnight ratings will be available on a next day basis and contain live viewing plus any time-shifted viewing within the same broadcast day
•Potential
The total number of people in a given geographical area who conform to a specific definition. Population potentials are derived from the latest census figures.
•Ratecard
Cost of spots as provided by the Broadcaster. This is used to see what rates are for a period of time. Has the possible values Latest and Initial.
•Sample Size
The number of people used in a survey e.g. the peoplemeter panel, to give a statistical estimate of the viewing audience.
•TARPs
Target Audience Rating Points This is also known as Rating, Average Audience or GRP (Gross Rating Points). The percentage of the target audience viewing a channel at that time. I.e. if 12% of a target audience is viewing a channel then it is achieving 12 TARPs.
•Thousands
Thousands (sometimes written 000s) is another measure of ratings, but expressed as the total number of people viewing divided by 1,000. To calculate thousands from a TARP figure, multiply it by the potential and then divide by 100. If the potential is expressed in people instead of thousands of people, then divide by a further 1000.
•Total Viewing/People using Television (PUTs)
Total viewing audience for all channels at once. Can be calculated by adding the viewing (TARPs) for all channels.
•TV_Type
TV_Type has the possible values of All, FreeView and SKY
•VST
Viewing Session Type has the possible values of Overnight and Consolidated.
•Seasonal Factor
Is determined by the average of the chosen source weeks compared to the week you are buying in
•Snapshot
A record of the contents in the billing system at a set point in time.
